Book Blog News {Rating, Moving, Opening and more…}

news

Hi guys and welcome to book blog news! This is a feature I post every Sunday in which I tell what has happened in the book blogging world in the past week. It was inspired by Elizziebooks‘ “Booktube News”.
So grab a cup of coffee and let’s see which were some of the most interesting things going on.

Becca from Pivot Point Reviews wrote a really funny “Life of a Blogger” post. This week’s topic was “Introvert or extrovert?” and she described all the crazy partys and fun she’s having as an introvert! It seems to have a lot of perks!

Alison Can Read published a post called “Genre Overload: Too much of a good thing?”. In it she explains how much she used to love YA paranormal fantasy and after reading too many of this genre, she doesn’t even want to hear about it anymore. I definitely understand what she’s talking about as this always happens to me with foods! Never with chocolate cake, though…

Stormy from Book. Blog. Cake shared one of her reading habits with us. She talked about being a One-Sitting Reader and all the things she loves about it. How she prepares to sit down and read a book from cover to cover and all the necessary things she needs to do it. Hop over to read more details!

Marianne from Boricuan Bookworms wrote a post about ratings. In her opinion rating books high on average is definitely not a bad thing and doesn’t define her as a reader. I completely agree with what she says in that post and I have also noticed how some people who tend to rate a bit lower sometimes think that other people who tend to rate higher aren’t being honest. There’s a discussion going on on her blog, so go over there to join!

There’s also a survey going on on Cuddlebuggery. Steph created it in order to find out what her readers like reading most, which ones of her posts are our favorites and which ones we don’t like as much. Go over there and join it! It’s fun and doesn’t take more than 3 minutes.

Hopeless Romantics had a big announcement for us. They’re moving from Blogger to WordPress! Their new name is now These Paper Hearts, so make sure to go to their new blog and follow them there!

There’s also another new blog called Oh, the Books! This is created by three awesome ladies from Another Novel Read, A Bookish Heart and Literary Excursion. They posted their very first post recently and explained everything that we can expect to see in that blog. Go over and take a look!

Have you seen any other amazing posts this week?

Book Blog News {Buttons, GIFs and more…}

Rachel over at Parajunkee wrote a post on how to create the perfect “Grab my Button”. From designing to formating to giving tricks, everything you need to create your own “Grab my Button” is there!

Lucy from Queen of Contemporary wrote about how she has an obsession of having the same books ore than once. As she says, she has multiple copies of the same book sometimes, but still they’re all important to her. Hop over to her blog to see how she analyzes herself.

Charlotte over at Gupsy Reviews wrote a post about her photoshop story. She is using photoshop for a long time now and shows us how her pictures have changed throughout those years. Really good motivation if you’re starting with photoshop now and feel like you can’t do a descent picture yet!

There’s a really funny post on Verbosity Book Reviews about rating books. Kelsey uses some GIFs to show us what book ratings mean!

Speaking of GIFs, Adam Silvera from the Pub(lishing) Crawl wrote a post comparing GIF reviews and normal reviews. He definitely prefers reviews without GIFs and explains why he thinks those actually have a stronger impact.

P.E. over at the Sirenic Codex found some researches showing that half of the people who buy Young Adult books are actually adults. Which triggers the question ?why don’t more teens read YA?”, that is exactly the subject of her post. Go over there to read more on the subject.

Book Blog News {Designs, Love-a-thon and more…)

There are a couple of posts talking about Blog Designing! Stephanie from Hopeless Romantics is sharing some tips on how to make custom share icons, while Say it With Books has a Q & A with some awesome book blog designers! Make sure you check those two out!

As you probably have noticed already there’s a book blogger Love-a-thon, hosted by Alexa Loves Books and Kate’s Tales of Books and BandsIt seems like everyone is taking place in this Love-a-thon, so you’ll be probably see a lot of those posts in many different blogs.

Iris over at Irisjexx talked about how she often avoids talking about books in her real life, because no one seems to be really interested. It’s a problem I think a lot of booklovers have. If you want to read what exactly she has to say, don’t forget to stop by her blog!

The Broke and the Bookish wrote had an interesting post about series being cancelled. It has become quite an isuue these last days since Victoria Schwab announced that her Archived series might get cancelled. It is definitely an important issue so much for the writers as for the readers who can not read the end of the story.

On Oh, Chrys there’s a post called “5 signs he’s a bad book boyfriend” and it’s about some of the not-so-good characters and personalities that some of our favorite book boyfriends actually have! It’s a really intersting post, so make sure you go take a look!

That was it for this week! I’m sure there are a bunch of other blog posts that are just as interesting so feel free to tell me about any of them in the comment section.

Book Blog News {Comments, ARCs and moar!}

Ashley over at Nose Graze started a discussion about “wanting” to love certain blogs, but having some things stopping her from doing so. Her post has gotten a lot of comments, so go over there and join the discussion.

Kelly from Effortlessly Reading wrote about a little annoying habit of hers, that I think a lot of us share. I’ll give you a hint: It has to do with beautiful covers and book buying problems…

Judith from Paper Riot shared her opinion about receiving ARCs and how a lot of bloggers envy other bloggers for receiving a lot of them. There’s a big conversation going on there too, so you should definitely take a look.

Shelly over at Readiculous Reads is starting a new feature on her blog called Confessions of a Library Worker. She is working at a library and shares with us what is going on “behind the scenes”. In her first post she explains what happens after someone requests a book from a library.

Sandra from Tea Between Books wrote her “Let me Talk” feature and this time it’s all about the comments. She explains on what kind of posts she likes to comment and how often she does that.

Last but not least, there is a “Romance is in the air” blog hop happening, hosted by I am a Reader not a Writer and Rachel Anderson. There are a lot of blogs participating (so you may have noticed already) and many giveaways going on!

That was all for this week! Hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know if there are any other posts that got your attention this week! See you! 😀

Book Blog News [Christmas, Comments, Speculations]

Hi guys and welcome to book blog news! This is a feature I post every Sunday in which I tell what has happened in the book blogging world in the past week. So grab a cup of coffee and let’s see which were some of the most interesting things going on.

This week did not really have a lot of posts as many bloggers have been taking a break. There were some though, that were working on their blogs!

You may have noticed that there were a ton of Christmas posts this past week. There was however one that stood out to me and that was Cuddlebuggery‘s holiday wishes. Sort of an anti-Christmas post that made me laugh, even though I am a big Christmas holidays fan!

Effortlessly Reading talked about a topic that I think annoys everyone – big and small bloggers – and that is faking comments. Leaving the same comment in dozens of different blogs just to get attention to your own blog. There are also many responses to this post which shows it’s an issue many people have been dealing with.

Icey Books wrote a book about all the books see would love to have, or – as she phrased it – she would punch a crocodile for. A funny post that is worth reading!

Another conversation that caught my attention was that on Brianna’s Bookish Confessions about staying on wordpress or becoming self-hosted. A dilemma that I think many of us have.

There is one last Christmas-y post that is really fun and it was created by A Bookish HeartShe has a ton of little presents for everyone! Under every one of these presents hides a new amazing blog for us to find out! So go and explore all those awesome blogs you will discover!

As I said, there are not many things going on this week, but there certainly are some posts worth reading!

Book Blog News [Challenges, Playlists, Tips]

Hello everyone! Sorry, I’m a bit late with my book blog news… It’s been a busy, busy week! There are also many things going on in the book blogging community, so here are some interesting posts that you might want to check out!

First there are some reading challenges for the upcoming year! The Story Siren is hosting a Debut Author Challenge that you might want to sign up for. For this challenge you will challenge yourself to read 12 books by debut authors in 2014!

There is also a Standalone Reading Challenge hosted once again by Icey Books this year in collaboration with Diznee’s World of Books. For this you would have to read 15 standalones published in 2014. There is a list of more than 150 books to choose from and already more than 25 people have signed up!

The Perpetual Page – Turner wrote a very winter-y post in which she recommends books, songs and movies that are perfect for winter and Christmas!

If you still haven’t found your perfect rating image, there is a very interesting post over at Hopeless Romantics. There are so many suggestions from stars and hearts to turtles, ice creams and phone booths!

So, these are a couple of the things that have been going on this week. I apologise again for being late with this post.

Happy holidays everyone! 😀

Book Blog News

Hey there!

So I decided to start this new thing on my blog, where I will be sharing with you all the new interesting things that have happened in the past week in the book blogging world! I was actually inspired to do this by Elizziebooks. She does something similar with booktube.

So I will be posting these news every Sunday! Hope you like the idea! 😀

Well, these were some of the posts that caught my attention this week:

Lucy from Queen of Contemporary talked about how other people react to her being a book blogger. Apparently, she gets many different reactions that she decided she’d share with us!

Kate from Cuddlebuggery had her Buzz Worthy News and she had some interesting information for all us Harry Potter fans: they are coming out in an illustrated edition!

Speaking of Harry Potter, Ashley from Nosegraze shared with us why she can’t re-read the first 3 Harry Potter books even though she loves the series.

Adventures of a Bookjunkie is having a very interesting feature, called “The time it was about the 12 days of Christmas” in which she will be making a giveaway for each of the 12 days of Christmas. Woohoo! Make sure to participate in those.

And last but not least, Bookhounds and I am a reader, not a writer are hosting a hop called “Best of 2013 Giveaway Hop”. More than 100 bloggers are participating and each one of them will be giving away one of their favorite books of 2013.

So these were all the news I had for you this week! Let me know if you like this idea for a feature, or if someone is doing it already (I searched, but didn’t find anything…)
